Sidra Acebal - El Carrascu Sidra de Asturias (700 mL)
Sidra Acebal - El Carrascu Sidra de Asturias (700 mL)
El Carrascu from Sidra Acebal is a traditional, natural cider from the Asturias region in Northern Spain. The Acebal family has been making cider in the same building in the farmland outside of Gijón, Asturias for four generations, dating back to the late 1800s. This cider carries the PDO Sidra de Asturias designation, guaranteeing it's authenticity and quality. El Carruscu is still (non-carbonated) and best enjoyed by doing the Spanish long pour from the bottle. It drinks dry, acidic, and refreshing - with tasting notes of green apple with hints of classic Asturian funk.
Best paired with food - including Spanish cheeses, cured meats, seafood, fresh vegetables, and nearly anything flame grilled.
Made from a blend of native Asturian apple varieties, including: Regona, Durona de Tresali, Raxao, Carrio, and Limon Montes. Spanish Cider long pour: Best served cool, not cold, and ideally poured in the traditional escanciar method – holding the bottle high above your head and pouring a few gulps at a time into your glass, held below your waist. This will create a slight carbonation in the cider and open it up aromatically.
PDO Sidra de Asturias: El Carrascu carries a Protected Designation of Origin as a Natural Asturian Cider. The PDO guarantees the quality of the cider, and certifies that this cider is authentic and produced true to the rich traditions of cider in Asturias. In order to achieve this certification, the cider must be: produced in Asturias, using only designated varieties specifically grown for cider production, and true to the style of either a Natural Cider or Sparkling Natural Cider. There are 76 different cider apple varieties designated by the DO's regulatory council as approved for use in Sidra de Asturias, based on their acidic and bitter qualities.
