ANXO Cider - Hewes Crab (750 mL)
ANXO Cider - Hewes Crab (750 mL)
Anxo's Hewe's Crab cider is a single-varietal made from the Virginia Hewe's crabapple.
Ingrained in American history as the most prestigious of all cider southern cider fruit, the Hewes Crab once dominated the orchards of Virginia during the 18th and 19th century. Rooted in tradition, prized for complexity, and grown by our founding fathers - this high gravity single varietal boasts notes of honeysuckle, spice, and stone fruit. Spontaneously fermented on oak, rested on lees, and aged 1 year to perfection.
Anxo's first release of a series of three delicious large-format (750 mL) bottles. Each of these new releases is refreshing and has the signature juicy acidity beloved by Anxo fans. The bottled ciders have increased boldness and flavor complexity, relative to most of their canned offerings.
Tasting Notes: Virginia Hewe's Crab drinks dry with medium-plus to high acidity, and medium-minus tannins. A sweet-tart vibe, mouthwatering, and sour with notes of green apple, and a limeade like quality to it.
About Anxo Cider: Anxo Cider (pronounced Ahn-Cho) is a Washington, D.C. based cidery whose mission is to bring the dry cider cultures of Basque Country and England to cider drinkers in the U.S. Anxo sources cider apple varieties mainly from orchards around the Northeast - primarily Virginia and Pennsylvania. They also bring in apples from cider makers from other parts of the U.S. and the U.K. for special collaborations. All of their ciders are naturally fermented with the wild or native yeast living on the fruit, resulting in refreshing dry ciders - often tart and with apple and fermentation driven complexities.
