Finnriver Farm & Cidery's 10-Year Pommeau is an extremely limited treat, aged in barrels for 10 years and released in 2025 in celebration of Finnriver's 15 year anniversary. A collector worthy bottle, this is an extremely limited release - we're blessed to get our hands on a couple bottles.
Pommeau typically requires two years of barrel aging to develop its signature balance and complexity. Finnriver’s decade-long aging process resulted in an exceptional spirit that showcases intense depth and elegance.
Finnriver's first batch of pommeau was made in 2012 by blending apple brandy with the fresh juice of Kingston Black, Yarlington Mill, and Dabinett apples. Aged for two years, most of it was bottled and released in 2014. The results were such that it inspired another batch of pommeau to be made, and this time they set aside a single barrel for continued aging. 10 years later, this special bottle is rich and complex.
About Pommeau: French-style apple ‘mistelle,’ a blend of fresh juice (called ‘must’) and brandy. Historically, in western France, fresh apple juice was blended with cider brandy to preserve the flavors throughout the year. This operation, known as ‘mutage,’ was done quietly on the family farm and, for centuries, the method was a closely guarded secret. The result became the local apéritif, called Pommeau - from ‘pomme,’ meaning apple. A fine Pommeau blends strength, sweetness and delicacy.
