Farmstead Cider - Yellowstone Cider (750 mL)
Farmstead Cider - Yellowstone Cider (750 mL)
Farmstead's Yellowstone Cider is a special small batch cider made 100% from crabapples found growing on the slopes of the Yellowstone Caldera. These volcanically formed and glacially blended soils grow apples that are rich in flavor and unique in terroir. Many of these trees are over 100 years old, and were planted by the same generation that founded Yellowstone National Park 150 years ago.
Fermented naturally with native (wild) yeast living on the fruit. Aged 2-3 years in a neutral oak barrel, then another year in bottle.
This is the 2022 vintage (fruit harvest year), newly released in 2025. This cider is featured in the Summer Release of our Cider Club. Lovely to compare this bottle to the 2019 vintage, which we have a few bottles of.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of apple, candy, and orchard floor. This cider has a slight, petulant sparkle. Drinks just off-dry, with great body and a nice acidity (medium-plus acid). Notes of green apple, candy smartee like citric acid qualities, and citrusy hints of orange and lemon zest. A soft, neutral wood from time on barrel, plus a terroir driven minerality - two notes we love from most Farmstead ciders. A candy citrus note lingers on the finish of the palate.
About Farmstead Cider: Farmstead Cider was founded because the many decorative crab apple trees growing in backyards around the Jackson Hole community were becoming a problem. The apples on the ground would ferment and attract wildlife of all kinds to feast on these sweet treats Unfortunately, when someone steps out of their front door and sees a bear munching away on boozy apples, that can lead to a major problem for both the person and the bear. Farmstead's solution? Remove the apples! Then they discovered how wonderful many of those high-altitude crab apples are for making hard cider. Farmstead now harvests apples all around Jackson Hole, helping to protect wildlife and apple trees while making small-batch hard ciders that reflect their wild home. Farmstead's ciders are fermented to dry using wild/native yeast, often with some oak barrel aging, and without any added sulfites or any other refining agents. Natural cider. Save Bears, Drink Cider!
