Brooklyn Cider House - Rouen (750 mL)
Brooklyn Cider House - Rouen (750 mL)
Brooklyn Cider House's Rouen is made from a blend of Newtown Pippin, Bedan des Partes and Brown Snout apples. This cider is aromatic and expressive, with notes of overripe apple, tree sap, ginger, and a touch of vanilla. It drinks slightly sweet but very well balanced - juicy apple leads on the palate, followed by racy acidity and medium tannins. Lovely charred oak notes play a subtle and delicious role in this cider.
Minimal sulfur use, Unfined, Unfiltered. Limited Release.
Label Artist: Virginia Shepley

About Brooklyn Cider House and Twin Star Orchards: Started by Peter and Susan Yi, siblings whose vision for Brooklyn Cider House was first born after a visit to Spanish cider houses on a trip to Spain's Basque Country. They first opened their cider house in 2014 in New York City's Brooklyn borough. Their cidery is inspired by their Korean heritage, new and old world winemaking techniques, and the life changing experience pairing natural cider with excellent food while vacationing in Spain. Peter's son Richard Yi is now their head Cidermaker, joining the business in 2024 after first learning to make wine in California's Napa Valley. We have been incredibly impressed with the evolution of Brooklyn Cider House's ciders, especially Richard's craft (we love listening to Richard talk about his ciders - check out his interview on the Ciderchat podcast).
Their ciders are made mostly with apples grown in their own orchard (Twin Star Orchards), with some additional fruit sourced locally from the Hudson Valley or Finger Lakes regions of NY. They make low-intervention ciders while also drawing inspiration from modern innovations in cider and wine making. All of their ciders are unfined and unfiltered, with minimal or no sulfites added. Each label is created in collaboration with local artists.
The location in Brooklyn has closed, but not before the family revitalized Twin Star Orchards in New Paltz, NY - about 90 miles north of the city. We highly recommend a visit to their cider house if you're in the area or traveling through - a gorgeous tasting room, great food, and plenty of space throughout the orchard for you to enjoy your visit.
