Brooklyn Cider House - Txanguro (750 mL)
Brooklyn Cider House - Txanguro (750 mL)
Brooklyn Cider House's Txanguro - With a name meaning Basque crab, this cider was barrel-aged for 6 months in neutral oak barrels to complement the Manchurian Crab's grippy tannins. Made from a blend of Manchurian Crab (60%), Brown Snout (30%), and Northern Spy (10%). Fermentation started spontaneously and then white wine yeast was added to complete the fermentation.
Tasting Notes: Txangurro boasts enticing aromas of ginger, orange zest, and sherry. It has a juicy, apple-forward palate with hints of salted lemon, unexpected minerality and refined tannins. It also has a slight touch of effervescence and textural complexity thanks to a partial malolactic fermentation.
Limited release, artwork by Keya Tama.
Minimal sulfur use, Unfined, Unfiltered.
About Brooklyn Cider House and Twin Star Orchards: Started by Peter and Susan Yi, siblings whose vision for Brooklyn Cider House was first born after a visit to Spanish cider houses on a trip to Spain's Basque Country. They first opened their cider house in 2014 in New York City's Brooklyn borough. Their cidery is inspired by their Korean heritage, new and old world winemaking techniques, and the life changing experience pairing natural cider with excellent food while vacationing in Spain. Peter's son Richard Yi is now their head Cidermaker, joining the business in 2024 after first learning to make wine in California's Napa Valley. We have been incredibly impressed with the evolution of Brooklyn Cider House's ciders, especially Richard's craft (we love listening to Richard talk about his ciders - check out his interview on the Ciderchat podcast).
